Ten Arthur Troop Scholarships are awarded annually, one for each continent in which we have member Sections - Africa, America, Australasia, Asia and Europe.

Each Scholarship consists of a bursary of not more than 3,000 Swiss Francs that is to be used for a seminar at the International Conference Centre ‘ IBZ Schloss Gimborn ' or a comparable institution. Applicants must have been a member of IPA for at least one year before applying and the scholarship must be taken between 1st January and 31st December following the  grant of the scholarship (extensions not granted).

 

 

The study Scholarship may be awarded to IPA members in police service, but predominantly targeted at the younger member.  The member must submit an application setting out their reasons to support their selection. 

Applications must be processed through their National Sections , to the International Secretary General ( IAC ) and must be supported by a written statement from their Section.

Arthur Troop Scholarship

Regulations

•  In order to support professional education and to complement advanced training, ten ‘Arthur Troop Scholarships' may be awarded annually by the PEB, preferably including at least one from each continent.

•  Each Scholarship shall consist of a bursary of not more than 3,000 Swiss Francs, that is to be used for a seminar at the International Conference Centre ‘IBZ Schloss Gimborn', or a comparable institution, and shall include travel expenses.

•  The Scholarship shall be awarded to IPA members in police service, but is predominantly targeted at the younger, lower ranking member, who is not generally in the position to avail of police service funded courses.

•  The applicant must have been a member of the IPA for at least one year.

•  The member must submit a completed application, giving reasons why IPA should grant the Scholarship. The completed application must be processed through their National Section, who must give a written supporting statement and forward the application with the attachments to the International Secretary General (IAC).

•  The closing date for receipt of applications by the IAC is the 30 th September.

•  The Scholarship must be taken between the 1 st January and the 31 st December, of the year following the grant of the Scholarship. Extensions will only be granted under exceptional circumstances.

•  Applicants will be pre-selected by the IPC for the Scholarship. The IPC Chairman will submit up to ten (10) suggestions to the PEB.

•  The decision of the PEB is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

•  The International Secretary General will inform, in writing, the successful candidates, and their Sections. This will also be circulated in the International Newsletter and the IAC homepage. If selected, the applicant agrees to their details being published within IPA circles.

•  On being awarded the Scholarship, the bursary shall be paid to the applicant from the International Treasury, upon written application to the International Secretary General (IAC) after the study seminar arrangements have been finalised.

•  The selected scholarship winners will write a report to the PEB on completion of their chosen seminar(s) and agree that such report(s) may be published within IPA circles.

•  Each Section is allowed to submit applications each year. If there are an insufficient number of eligible candidates, the IPC can suggest a grant may be given to more than one member per section.

•  Scholarship awardees shall be disqualified from making a further application for a period of five years.
