Item 7 Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer R. Smart presented his report for January 2010. He then moved “That his report be accepted” Seconded R.Lawless. Carried.
Item 8 Business arising from the Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer advised that $5,000 had been transferred to Geoff Rodda as requested, this was to assist with the purchase of the IPA house in Queensland
Item 9 Reports
Souvenirs - A. Finnegan - The frames for the badges had been paid for. Lilly Cvijic had sold 2 plaques at the Academy. Has been given 2 more.
Social - A. Voak advised re Dinner Movie Night at the Cygnet Theatre, Film ‘Valentine’s Day’, cost $22.00. It was agreed that members be subsidized $4.00.
The Annual Christmas Function had been well attended, 35 members
Inquires were in hand for a Bowling Day. Alan Redwood advised that he was going to Europe on the 19/3/2010 and would be away fro 6 months. Matter adjourned.
Visitors. V. Doherty advised of the visitors that she was aware of who were coming to Perth
Len Kramer and his wife from South Africa in June. Vic Smith aware.
Roddy and Cathy Macleod, Canada in Perth for one day on a cruise. Vic Smith aware.
Dirk Gehder Germany, 8th March. Vic Smith aware Andreas Huber had been in Perth however we had not been able to see him due to his short stay. Had been in Queensland and Val had requested Adrian Gover to apologise to him for not being able to see him.
Members - The Secretary advised that the following applications had been received for membership: Brian Hunter and Julie Foster both serving members WAP. Doherty/Smart ” That both applications be approved”. Carried.
Item 10 General Business
The Secretary advised that the National President had requested that the WA Region consider taking on a project for the production of Lanyards similar to the ones for the IYG. Possible inclusion of the IPA Roundel Badge. Resolved that Albert as the Souvenirs Officer make inquiries.
The Chairman advised that Geoff Richards wished to have the subject of Key Rings, Fridge Magnets discussed. Geoff advised re items that he had seen at the Fremantle Market’s, key ring costs around $2.80 plus GST. Fridge Magnets around $2.80 plus GST. 500 of each item would seem to be the cheapest way to go. Adjourned for the Souvenirs Officer to make inquiries. Would probably require a feasibility study with other Regions interested.
Paul la Spina wished to advise members that he had been able to arrange for a special deal for IPA members with Choice Hotels of Australasia which is one of the largest hotel franchise groups in the Southern Hemisphere with over 275 Econo Lodge, Comfort, Quality and Clarion hotels in the Australasia Region.
The Secretary advised that the United Kingdom were celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the IPA they have a Jubilee (Jedd) tie pin available at a cost of one pound each. The image is that of the longest serving UK member, Len Washer, member no 4.
Ross Pengilly then provided an update on the membership cards.
The Secretary moved a vote of thanks to Ross for the work that he had put into the new card system and establishing the Data Base.
The Secretary advised that the WAPU had advised that they would be happy to continue with the provision of supper for meetings.
Roger Smart advised that he wished to move a motion ” That the payment to the Auditor be increased to $200.00″ Seconded V. Doherty Carried.
