These notes are provided to help people compose effective news bulltetins.

Choose a short compelling headline that leads the reader into the story. Think like a journalist. Use keywords in the headline that people would use to search for information about that story.

People hate reading long winding sentences that go on and on forever and use a lot of repetitive words that actually mean the same thing which reveals to the reader that the writer is more interested in his command of the English language rather than communicating something of real value to the reader.

People don’t read web pages like they do written text. They do it by scanning text quickly. You’ll help them by keeping sentences the short and punchy. Information you convey will be more easily understood and they’ll respect what you say for having considered their needs too.

Choose a Category

If you want the bulletin to appear on the home page of this website check the “National Bulletins” category.

If the information is only of local interest select the appropriate Region’s checkbox.

You can also check both the National Bulletins and a Sub-Regions checkbox.

Create or select Tags

Tags are the words people use to search for your information. The more relevant Tags you add makes it easier for people to find your article(s).

Click the “Choose from the most popular tags” link and select from the list.

If none are suitable type a new one in the box and click the (Add) button.

No need to create new tags for words used in your headline. Duplication is wasted effort!

Enabling Comments.

Comments have been turned off by default. You can override this by clicking the “Allow comments on this post” checkbox under Discussion. Doing so will allow readers to leave comments about your post. All comments will need to be approved by an administrator before they appear visible to other readers.
