There is nothing else like it in the world. The International Police Association is a body of serving and retired police officers linked by a professional esprit de corps. The largest friendship organisation of police officers throughout the world.

Over 320,000 members in 58 countries are part of this unique organisation world wide. The International Police Association promotes and encourages cultural relations, and the expansion of knowledge through the exchange of professional experiences, as well as mutual help in the social field and the promotion where possible of world peace.

Here is a real chance to experience international friendship without having to travel:
  • meet up with interesting people
  • learn about different cultures
  • broaden your knowledge of police procedures
  • host visiting police officers from overseas and interstate
  • exchange information on your hobby

For those interested in travelling, there are International Police Association houses in a number of countries, and the Australian Section through its network of contacts is able to prove valuable advice on travel.

There is also the possibility of:

  • Youth exchange
  • House exchange
  • Holiday placements
  • Study exchange

These are only some of the activities of the International Police Association.

The IPA was formed by Sergeant Arthur Troop in England in 1950. This began with the dream of one man to have police officers banded together through friendship. This is shown in the Association Motto "Servo per Amikeco" which when translated from Esperanto means "Service through Friendship"

The IPA Australian Section was formed in 1964 and was recognised in Barcelona in 1965. Since then it has grown across Australia with members in all States and Territories
